F.A. Youth Cup - Second Qualifying Round
Cockfosters 3
Thamesmead Town 5 (a.e.t.)
Cockfosters
battled hard in the tie against Thamesmead Town but were chasing the
game all night. Twice in normal time and once more in the added period,
Thamesmead had their noses in front only for Cockfosters to battle back
each time. Terry Mireku got the Reds back on track to make it
1-1; Marcel Okuro forced the tie into extra-time and after Thamesmead
had gone ahead for the third time, Sean Shields made it all square once
more. Cockfosters should have made more of the extra man once Thamesmead
were reduced to ten after 85 minutes but it was not to be as
Thamesmead's Raphael Momodu completed a personal hat-trick with two late
extra-time goals. Match report to follow.....

London Senior Cup - First Round
Cockfosters 5 Haringey
Borough 0
Two goals in the first ten minutes
from Dan O'Connor and Dave Pigden effectively indicated the eventual
outcome of this tie. Although Haringey had plenty of the ball,
there was little danger from their assaults on the Cockfosters
rearguard. Three goals early in the second half, Dan O'Connor from the
spot, Dave Pigden & Aaron Ewing, lifted the spirits and ensured that
Haringey had no way back. Match report to follow.....

Jon Moniatis 200 not out.....
Scoring
at Langford this afternoon was a personal milestone for Cockfoster's Jon
Moniatis as he brought his goalscoring tally to 200 senior goals for the
Club. Jon made his senior debut in August 1996 for the 'B' team. Since
then 'Monnie' has made 256 league appearances and 86 cup games - a very
impressive record. Well done Jon...

Langford 6 Cockfosters

In
a bizarre game that might well have finished 10 - 10, Cockfosters fought
back from 6-1 down to gain some respectability. Both defences were
atrocious, and by half-time Langford were 3-1 ahead. The home side led
2-0 before Jack Chandler reduced the arrears before a gifted goal on the
stroke of half-time put Cockfosters on the back foot. Matters got worse
within 15 seconds of the restart and goal numbers 5 & 6 were not far
behind, Jon Moniatis started the revival with Dave Pigden and Michael
Casey getting on the scoresheet as Langford amazingly looked for the
final whistle. Match report to follow.....

Two goals adrift
after just 9 minutes gave Cockfosters a tremendous uphill task but
within 23 minutes, two goals from Dave Pigden restored equality. Welwyn
went ahead once more after 38 minutes but a Dan O'Connor goal after 66
minutes gave Cockfosters a deserved point. Match report to follow (on

Cockfosters put in a breathtaking
performance at Tring which featured five of the current U18 side. Tring
could only respond with a last minute penalty as goals from Kieron
Bishop(2), Jamie Brandon, Danny Curbelo and and Sean Shields secured a
fine win.

Cockfosters U18 2 Wealdstone U18
1
After going behind after 20 minutes,
Cockfosters battled back against a strong Wealdstone side and levelled
through Marcel Okoro's deflected drive two minutes before the break.
Wealdstone had plenty of second half possession but Cockfosters had the
more dangerous attempts on goal. With eight minutes remaining Okoro(pictured)
smashed home the winner that sees Cockfosters through to face Thamesmead
Town
in the next Round. Have a look at the F.A's. preview of last night's

After
putting in an impressive first 40 minutes, Cockfosters were shaken as
London Colney took the lead just before half-time. A disastrous slip-up
a minute into the second half saw Cockfosters go two behind. A late
resurgence saw Danny Curbelo to come off the bench ro score twice, to earn a well
deserved point in a thoroughly entertaining game. Match report to

Hatfield Town 0
Cockfosters 2
Cockfosters eased their way past
Division One side Hatfield Town at Herns Lane, Welwyn. The game took
some time to catch fire but gradually Cockfosters warmed to the task and
began to look the more dangerous. Nicky Page rattled the crossbar before
the opening goal on 44 minutes saw Dave Pigden score from close range.
The second came after 56 minutes from Nicky Steward who scored from 20
yards. Hatfield had their moments but rarely looked like spoiling the

Cockfosters went behind after 13 minutes but after continually
threatening the Harpenden goal, the leveller duly arrived on 24 minutes
through Lucas Campbell. The second half was only two minutes old before
Danny Curbelo completed a tidy three man move to sidefoot Cockfosters in
front. There was little danger to either goal until the 78th minute when
a freekick wide on the left was met at the far post for Harpenden to
level. Match report to follow....

Langford 5
Cockfosters 1
Cockfosters exited the competition at
the first hurdle against the leaders of the S.M.M.L. Within twenty
minutes Langford were 2-0 up and although Dave Pigden clawed one back
early in the second half. A dubious penalty after 70 minutes gave
Langford some breathing space at the same time as Steve Kessack seeing
red for disputing the decision. Although the Reds controlled the latter
stages , two goals from corners put the boot in at the same time as
flattering the hosts. See report .....

claimed the last touch as a corner was bundled over the line to get one
back just before half-time. Nicky Steward brought Cockfosters level after 47
minutes which was the prelude to a domination of the second half. All of
that went out of the window as Cockfosters were mugged by a penalty four

They'll be dancing in the streets of

Frankly, Cockfosters were never at the races and although on chances,
goal-line clearances etc. the score could have gone either way,
Cockfosters can have few complaints. Even the decisive goal was a hoick
from the half way line by Tom Lynch that took a wicked bounce and flew
in via Chay Morriss's shoulder after 80 minutes. See report .....

five minutes from time left the Reds searching for their first points.

Cockfosters continued their pre-season programme
with a visit to Codicote and emerged with a 3-2 win. The home side
looked the more cohesive in a goalless first half and could well have
earned a first half lead but for some poor finishing. Half-time saw
multiple changes and within a minute of the restart Dan O'Connor fired
Cockfoster in front. After 63 minutes Aaron Ewing put O'Connor in to
double the lead but Codicote fought back with a direct free-kick and
twelve minutes from time drew level. The winner came with eight minutes
left when Dave Pigden pounced on a loose ball and scored from close

committee are seeking to include a replacement and Hertford Town are

Ferdinand Snubs Chalk Lane Offer....
When
a Cockfosters official, who shall remain nameless, spotted a young man
displaying obvious football talents at a local event, an approach was
made and the young man was invited to come and play at a higher level at
Chalk Lane. "Thanks very much for the offer" was the reply "But I don't
think West Ham would like it..." The young man in question was Anton
Ferdinand and on realising his failure to recognise the West Ham
star, the intrepid Cockfosters official sought the refuge of the nearest
hole in the ground that would swallow him up. But hey..... If you

Cockfosters 1
Cockfosters latest outing was against Mill End
Sports of the Herts Senior County League. Cockfosters produced their

afternoon as we look forward to our next game against Codicote on
Thursday.

Haringey Borough Youth 4
Cockfosters Youth 4
Cockfosters Youth Team had
their first run out of the season last Sunday when they played
Haringey Borough in a Friendly at Clitterhouse Playing Fields,
Hendon.Three periods of 30 minutes were played with the strong wind
creating a tough opponent in the first and third periods. Borough
took the lead in an even start to the game. After overcoming a
customary poor start Cockfosters started to show some good passing
and movement. It was a piece of individual brilliance by Sean that
evened the score. The second period gave Cockfosters the opportunity
to win the game with flowing football and plenty of chances. Marcel
gave Cockfosters the lead quickly followed by a Boxer penalty
finish.Wholesale changes were made with all players in the large
squad given at least 30 minutes to impress. The final period against
the wind saw Labby score. Several other chances should have been
finished to crown a good performance. However the Cockfosters
defence began to shake and panic under pressure. Borough took their
chances and amazingly equalised with 5 minutes remaining.
A decent start but the late
collapse of the Cockfosters defence must surely be of concern.

Probably a little easier than the
score might suggest having held a three goal lead until about 20
minutes from the end.
With what looked mainly like a first
team for the first half Cockfosters controlled the game quite
comfortably and had a 2 - 0 lead by the break, with goals from Dave
Pigden and Jon Moniatis.
With eight changes for the second
half Cockfosters continued to push forward and it was no surprise
when debutant Daniel Little increased the lead. In the later stages
we somewhat lost our shape conceding two goals in the final 20
minutes, the second from the penalty spot. All in all another very
useful workout.

Cockfosters share the honours with Enfield Town
In the first of the Pre-Season friendlies Cockfosters and an Enfield
Town XI shared an honourable draw in the
1-1
draw played at the home of London Lions at Arkley. Enfield edged the
first half with Bradley Drisdale a constant threat and took the lead on
the stroke of half-time. The second half swayed the way of Cockfosters
who deservedly levelled midway through the half through Alex Green, on
his debut, after Aaron Ewing had set up the opportunity with a low cross
from the right. Both teams made constant changes throughout the game and
David Craig must have been satisfied with this opener.
