Boreham Wood Football Club PASE coach Luke Garrard said, “We are delighted to be in collaboration with Cockfosters FC and we believe that we have the complete sports and education package for young men of all footballing abilities.  So if you like what you’ve read, then why not give up a few hours of your time and attend the trial? We are so confident that what we offer cannot be bettered, that we actively encourage all our potential applicants to trial with other local schemes, before committing to us.  We are sure after looking at ours, then other football/education schemes, that you agree, nothing gets remotely close to what we offer”

Cockfosters Football Club Press Release

PASE Scheme News

Cockfosters F C who currently play in the Spartan South Midlands Football League has been providing football for local youths since their formation in 1921. In recent seasons they have also promoted youth football both in local Sunday and mid-week floodlight leagues.

The Club have now broken into new ground with an innovative sponsorship agreement with Oaklands College. The deal will mean Cockfosters will wear the Oaklands College logo on their first team shirts but this collaboration goes much deeper than that.

Cockfosters Chairman Colin Bell explained “Our three year deal with Oaklands College is more than just a shirt sponsorship agreement. That is just the tip of the iceberg. The agreement is part of a network of deals between colleges and Clubs in the North London and South Herts area that will benefit anything up to 250 young men each year.

Led by Boreham Wood F C and Oaklands College, Cockfosters FC will work collaboratively alongside not only Oaklands College but Enfield College, CONEL and the Beausandver consortium of schools, to ensure the youngsters on the scheme will receive not just a football education but a programme of study leading to academic or vocational qualifications that should help them to get off on the right foot when they enter the
world of work.”

Similar football led schemes where one Club works with a single College are prevalent around the country but this scheme is believed to be the first of its kind in that a group of Clubs, schools and Colleges will be working collaboratively to help individual youngsters to become the best they can be, not just in football but in the wider world. In fact the
success rate on both the education and football front, since Boreham Wood and Oaklands College put their scheme into practice has made this arguably the largest and most successful in the country.

Next seasons trials are now well under way, with over 400 boys already trialled, the third and final trial will be held on July 8th as part of the selection process, at Boreham Wood football club. Any interested parties aged 16 – 19 years old are asked to contact the Secretary of Cockfosters F C by email @ graham.bint@ntlworld.com
<mailto:graham.bint@ntlworld.com> for further details and an application form.

Boreham Wood Chairman Danny Hunter who has pioneered this venture from its conception over the last 5 years said, “its important to emphasise that this very special collaboration, encompasses 250 students and footballers, between the ages of 16 – 19 years old, plus 3 colleges spread over 5 campuses, 4 schools and 3 like minded local football clubs. Which in this day and age to bring so many organisations together
is a remarkable feat.

Both myself and Mark Dawe, the principle of Oaklands College, are thrilled that Cockfosters Football Club are now coming on board with us over the next 3 years for the betterment of local boys, both academically and in a footballing sense in their communities.

I look forward to a very successful partnership with everyone concerned, in raising the standards across the board both on an educational and football front.”
