HERTFORD SEVEN GOAL SALVO CLOSE IN ON HAREFIELD.... Last Saturday saw the First Round Proper of the F.A. Vase and of the ten hopefuls whose ambitions were alive, seven of our sides have progressed to the Second Round. Biggest of our winners were Chalfon St. Peter who travelled to Clanfield 85 and enjoyed a rousing 5-0 win. Not quite as one sided as might appear as Chalfont led by a solitary goal until four more came in the last eight minutes. In that time Terrell Lewis helped himself to a hat-trick and Bradley Bubb scored on the final whistle to add to his earlier first half goal. Brimsdown Rovers also enjoyed a big win, winning 4-0 at Feltham. Scott Anderson had Rovers two up at half-time and with Reece Prestedge scoring on the hour and Eric Mananov just before the end, a ticket to Round Two was assured. Leverstock Green also had an impressive 4-0 win at Wellingborough Town. James Armstrong had Green two up before half-time and a minute after the restart Armstrong completed his hat-trick. Steve Boad hit the fourth five minutes later. In the all domestic affair at Bedford Valerio it was the home team that prevailed as Cockfosters bowed out after losing 2-1. Robert Taylor and Surinder Raj had Bedford two up before Rob Laney pulled one back for Cockfosters on 90 minutes. Premier Division leaders, Harefield United went down to the only goal of the afternoon at Corsham. Edgware Town won 3-1 against Brentwood Town with Adam Wallace just before and Paul Killick and Stuart Blackburne just after the break putting the tie beyond Brentwood for whom Lee got one back after 70 minutes. Harpenden Town surrendered a 2-0 lead before going out after extra-time. Chris Gregory got Harpenden off to a flier against Halstead Town and when Tom Barrett put them two up after 49 minutes the omens were looking good.. Halstead battled back with two from Jamie Ricks before Lee Norfolk go the extra-time winner. Steve Stratord put Oxhey Jets in the driving seat with two against Bedfont Green. Tim O'Mara got the Jets third as Murrell and Preston replied for Bedfont. In the remaining game Ruislip Manor also had to endue the extra thirty minutes before getting past Tiptree United. Chris Henry set them on their way on the stroke of half-time with Hill pulling Tiptree level after 63 minutes. Added time goals from Aaron Mcleish White and Ryan Upton saw Ruislip home. | ||||||
